Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English Literature. In 1967 Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In the following two years, she became general correspondent for NBC News in Washington. The first time she covered the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was appointed chief congressional correspondent in the year 1992. was made to be the chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter in NBC News. Mitchell played both host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel for 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for her outstanding performance in journalism. In 2004, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during the time of Ronald Reagan's two term as president. Mitchell covered a range of interesting stories such as arm control, budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra saga. She visited extensively along with the president Reagan to meet with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
